Rituals Of Memory
Kimberly Blaeser's essay "Rituals of Memory" discusses her life experiences growing up as a Catholic and an Indian. In the beginning Blaeser compares her friends curly hair to relationships to family, place, and community because they can't be separated from each other. Blaeser argues that our ritual of memory's and story telling make us who we are. Blaeser uses the memory of Memorial Days spent with the Legionnaires visiting cemeteries and the Indian burial grounds as an example of a time when her two cultures came together Blaeser talks about both of her cultures: her Catholic church and Indian culture and she thinks that her life at home is a little bit more important than her live a school.
Finally, she says that the most important things to her are her memories and the stories she tells because they define her.
